Paris: The main suspect in the attack on a Jewish worship site in France was arrested after being wounded in a shootout with police a few hours later.
According to international news agencies, an explosion occurred outside the Jewish worship site near La Grande Motte, igniting a fierce fire in two cars parked in the area.
CCTV footage showed that the attackers were young men with their faces covered by Palestinian scarves and Palestinian flags tied around their waists. The number of attackers was more than one.
Police initially detained four suspects, but a 33-year-old suspect from Algeria was arrested in a wounded condition after a confrontation in Nîmes a few hours later.
French police stated that the suspect fired at officers instead of surrendering and was injured in the return fire.
The names of the arrested individuals and the motive behind the attack have not yet been disclosed.
However, a French official remarked that once again, a community in France was targeted solely due to their beliefs.
It is worth noting that last month, another Jewish worship site in France was targeted, and part of the site was set on fire. Police had responded by shooting and killing the attacking youth.
Since Israel’s brutal bombardment of Gaza starting October 7, the number of Palestinians killed has exceeded 40,000, with half being women and children.
In response, several countries have targeted Israeli embassies and Israelis.
