Pakistani wrestler Ali Asad has been banned for 4 years due to the use of performance-enhancing drugs.
This decision follows the confirmation of drug use during the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where Asad won a bronze medal.
The International Testing Agency has imposed a 4-year ban on Asad from participating in any activities after proving the use of banned substances at the Commonwealth Games.
Pakistan won a total of 8 medals, including one gold, at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
In wrestling, Ali Asad secured a bronze medal in the 57-kilogram category by defeating an Indian opponent in 55 seconds.
Asad’s urine sample was taken on August 6, 2022, and he was suspended on September 25, 2022, after the test came back positive.
The International Testing Agency provided an opportunity for appeal and a B sample test, but due to the wrestler’s failure to respond, a direct 4-year ban has been enforced.
Ali Asad maintained that he did not use any performance-enhancing drugs despite the positive doping test.
