World’s tallest abandoned building

Tianjin: The skyscraper ‘Golden Finance 117’ located in the suburbs of Tianjin, China’s seventh-largest city, is the world’s tallest abandoned building with a height of 597 meters.

This building was designed to be the centerpiece of a luxurious real estate project in Tianjin.

Known as Golden Finance 117 or China 117 Tower, it is famous for being the world’s tallest unfinished and empty building.

Its construction began in 2008 but was halted just two years later due to the Great Recession. Work on the project resumed in 2011, with an estimated completion between 2018 and 2019.

However, by September 2015, construction was once again suspended and has not resumed since.

When construction on Golden Finance 117 was halted, it was the fifth tallest building in the world and has now become the tallest abandoned building in the world.

Golden Finance 117 was supposed to have 128 floors, with 117 designated for hotel and commercial spaces, and 11 floors for mechanical and operational services as well as underground levels.
