Buenos Aires: Human Papillomavirus (HPV) has generally been considered a women’s health issue since it causes nearly all cases of cervical cancer.
However, a new study has revealed that men should also be concerned about this virus and consider getting vaccinated against it.
Researchers recently reported in the journal “Frontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology” that HPV infection can negatively impact male fertility.
Dr. Virginia Rivero, a professor and senior researcher from Argentina, stated that men infected with this virus experience increased sperm inactivity due to oxidative stress and a weakened local immune response in the urogenital tract.
