According to an American newspaper, close associates of President Biden say that while he has not yet made up his mind to withdraw, he appears to be accepting the possibility that he may have to step out of the race.
Sources indicate that Biden is increasingly coming to believe that winning the presidential election in November will be difficult for him, and eventually, he may have to withdraw from the presidency.
Sources also suggest that it is possible Biden might nominate Kamala Harris as the presidential candidate.
Maryland Congressman Jamie Raskin is now among the Democratic leaders urging Biden to withdraw.
Earlier, President Joe Biden had hinted at the possibility of stepping out of the presidential race, conditional on his health.
In an interview, Biden said that if his doctor informed him that his health issues were severe, he might withdraw from the race.
It is worth mentioning that Joe Biden has contracted COVID-19 and has been vaccinated. He is performing his presidential duties in isolation.
