UK space agency allocates £33 million for innovative space projects

London: The UK Space Agency has announced £33 million ($43 million) in funding as part of the National Space Innovation Program for space projects.

According to media reports, the funds will be distributed among several ongoing and new projects.

One of the projects is the SaxaVord Spaceport in Shetland, which includes a vertical rocket launch. This project is led by UK-based HyImpulse.

Another project involves a thermal infrared Earth observation instrument led by Super Sharp Space Systems.

Other projects include Rolls-Royce submarines, Spire Global, and Orbit Fab. Several UK universities are also involved, including the University of Southampton, University of Leicester, and University of Cambridge.

Many of these projects focus on technology already in orbit, such as space robotics demonstrations and EO payloads.
