U.S. State Department refrains from commenting on Pakistan’s political issues

Washington: U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller stated that the U.S. does not take a position on Pakistan’s internal political matters.

During a press briefing in Washington, Miller emphasized the U.S.’s commitment to democracy, human rights, and equal treatment of political parties.

In response to the arrest of PTI leaders, Miller said that the U.S. has requested $101 million from Congress to strengthen democracy and combat terrorism in Pakistan.

He noted that such programs have been ongoing this fiscal year and in previous years.
