U.S. Ambassador reaffirms support for Pakistan’s IMF efforts and ongoing cooperation

Islamabad: U.S. Ambassador Donald Blome has stated that the United States supports Pakistan’s work with the IMF and will continue its cooperation with Pakistan.

Speaking at a seminar on Pakistan-U.S. relations, Ambassador Blome said that Pakistan and the U.S. have a long history of partnership and cooperation.

The U.S. values its relationship with Pakistan and recognizes the country’s significant potential and its dynamic young population.

Donald Blome emphasized the ongoing cooperation between the two countries, acknowledging the longstanding partnership.

He appreciated Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and noted that trade between the two countries surpassed $9 billion last year.

The private sector in the U.S. recognizes Pakistan’s potential.

The ambassador also mentioned U.S. support for Pakistan’s collaboration with the IMF, upgrading the Mangla Dam with new turbines, and investing $250 million in clean water supply and $85 million in combating malnutrition.

Blome highlighted a $20 million investment in the education and academic programs, support for preserving the Gandhara civilization, and the provision of $1 billion to provinces for justice and security programs.

The U.S. is investing in Pakistan’s healthcare system and will continue to do so in the future.

The ambassador pointed out that Pakistan and the U.S. are jointly supporting Afghan refugees and people seeking asylum.

He clarified that the relationship between Pakistan and the U.S. is not solely focused on security issues, as the U.S. has provided support to Pakistan during natural disasters and economic challenges over the past several years.
