- Indian Navy MARCOS
MARCOS is Indian Naval Force and they were firstly named as Indian Marine Special Forces IMSF during the year 1985 and just after the time period of two years they were renamed as Marine Commando Force MCF with their fearless motto “THE FEW THE FEARLESS”.
They were also termed as the “Dadiwala Fauj”, that actually means “Bearded Army” by the enemies because they had a bearded disguise in the public areas.
To become a part of MARCOS is not an easy task because the recruits have to go through the toughest training that lasts for the time span of 3 years and that mainly depends on the course being opted.
The initial pre-training routine consists of Physical Fitness and Aptitude Test lasting for 3 days and this has a drop-out rate of approximately 80 % and this is followed by a five week long testing where the trainees have to face sleep deprivation and a highly extreme training.
It is necessary for the applicants to pass the HALO/HAHO jump courses to qualify for the Marine Commandos.
The word HALO means High Altitude Low Opening where they have to jump from a height of 11 km and the parachute is supposed to be opened close to the ground.
Similarly the word HAHO means High Altitude High Opening consisting of a jump from 8 km of height and the parachutes are opened after 10-15 seconds after jumping from the aircraft.

The Russian Alpha Force is an elite unit of Russian Special Forces and it is officially known by the name of Directorate “A”.
