Karachi: Despite two months having passed, most government schools in Sindh, including Karachi, have not received textbooks.
Due to the lack of textbooks from the Education Department, the future of students in Sindh is at stake.
A petition has been filed in the Sindh High Court against the Secretary of Education, Secondary and Primary Directors, Chairman of the Sindh Textbook Board, and others for failing to provide textbooks to government schools in Karachi and across Sindh despite the passage of two months.
The petitioner’s lawyer stated that students in many schools have not received textbooks, and that, through collusion among education officials, textbooks have been provided to some schools, resulting in the embezzlement of 2.5 billion rupees.
Despite a substantial budget allocated by the Sindh government, textbooks are still unavailable in government schools.
The court is requested to prevent further endangering of children’s futures and to order the provision of textbooks to all schools in Sindh.
