Islamabad: After a long period, the Supreme Court has formed the Shariat Appellate Bench.
The five-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, will hear the cases.
A meeting of the Practice and Procedure Committee, chaired by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, approved the formation of the Shariat Appellate Bench.
In the meeting, the five-member Shariat Appellate Bench was formed under the leadership of Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, including Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan, Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan, and scholars Dr. Muhammad Khalid Masood and Dr. Qibla Ayaz.
Several appeals against the decisions of the Federal Shariat Court are pending in the Supreme Court, including an appeal against the Federal Shariat Court’s decision on the interest-based system.
The five-member Shariat Appellate Bench, headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, will start hearing cases from August 5.
