A new study warns that spending excessive time in youth in front of screens, such as mobile phones, TVs, or computers, increases the risk of heart attack.
Data from a study monitoring the health of over 4,000 young adults for more than 30 years showed that those who spent excessive time watching TV in their early 20s had a higher likelihood of experiencing a heart attack.
Dr. Jason Nagata, the lead author of the study, said that the results indicate that the amount of time young adults spend viewing screens can significantly affect their risk of serious heart disease later in life.
Furthermore, excessive screen time can eliminate important activities such as sleep and physical exercise.
The study highlights the importance of promoting screen time limitations in early life to prevent future heart disease and stroke and underscores the overall importance of health.
