Karachi: Following the revelation of a child trafficking case involving Sarim Bernie Trust, the Sindh government has tightened its scrutiny around the trust.
The Sindh government has decided to take over the management of Sarim Bernie Trust’s affairs at the request of the FIA.
The FIA had sent a letter to the Sindh government regarding child trafficking cases under Sarim Bernie’s name in the United States and other countries.
The Sindh government’s Social Welfare Department will now oversee the operations of the Sarim Bernie orphanage in Karachi, as directed by the DG of Social Welfare.
Sarim Bernie is accused of trafficking children from Pakistan to the U.S. and was arrested by the FIA at Karachi Airport on June 5, following a request from the U.S. Consulate. He remains in FIA custody.
