Karachi: The Sindh High Court has issued notices to the Sindh government, the health department, Liaquat Medical University, and others regarding a petition challenging the purchase of overpriced robots for the university.
A hearing was held in the High Court concerning the petition against the procurement of surgical robots at inflated prices for Liaquat Medical University.
The petitioner’s lawyer argued that the university is purchasing each surgical robot from a private company at $400,000, while the actual price is $37,000.Payments are also to be made in Dubai.
The university had published a tender in the newspaper, which led to the selection of the mentioned company.
The court was requested to annul the tender, claiming that it is causing a loss of billions to the national exchequer.
The court has issued notices to the Sindh government, the health department, Liaquat Medical University, and others, and has requested responses from the parties by August 29.
