Senator Irfan Siddiqui of Pakistan Muslim League (N) has termed the Supreme Court’s decision on reserved seats controversial, citing concerns based on constitutional experts, the Pakistan Bar Council’s resolution, and the dissenting opinions of two judges.
In a statement on social media platform X, Senator Siddiqui stated that the decision of eight judges on July 12 is highly contentious.
He argued that when considered alongside the comprehensive dissenting notes of two honorable judges, the opinions of leading constitutional experts, and the recent resolution by the Pakistan Bar Council, the decision is in clear conflict with the explicit provisions of the constitution and law.
Siddiqui urged the judges who issued the decision, particularly those who may one day assume the esteemed position of Chief Justice, to reflect on whether they wish to carry the burden of this constitutionally questionable decision for life, constantly having to justify it, or to reconsider their decision seriously and rectify its flaws in light of the constitution and law to stand vindicated before history.
