Scientists discover planet with erratic orbit hundreds of light years away

Stockholm: An intriguing discovery related to a planet has compelled astronomers to redefine what constitutes a planet.

Astronomers from Lund University in Sweden have identified a mysterious planet with an erratic orbit, which deviates from conventional planetary patterns.

This planet challenges traditional astronomical physics principles. Named TOI-1408c, it is located approximately 455 light years away from Earth in another solar system. Researchers are astonished by its unexpected movements.

Discovered this year using NASA data, TOI-1408c is twice the size of Earth and has a mass eight times greater.

Unlike most planets that follow elliptical orbits, TOI-1408c exhibits erratic orbital behavior, prompting astronomers to reconsider current theories of planetary dynamics.

Experts hypothesize that TOI-1408c’s unpredictable motion might be influenced by an unseen celestial body, such as another planet or a neutron star, which can destabilize the orbit of other planets.
