Islamabad: The Saudi government has imposed a ban on sick individuals performing Hajj, stating that only healthy and fit individuals will be allowed to undertake the pilgrimage.
According to media, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has sent a health advisory to Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs regarding Hajj 2025.
The advisory informs Pakistan that individuals with complex medical conditions will not be permitted to travel for Hajj.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Religious Affairs stated that the Saudi government has specified in the letter that only healthy and fit pilgrims will be allowed to perform Hajj due to the harsh weather conditions.
Individuals with severe kidney, heart, lung, liver diseases, or cancer will not be allowed.
The spokesperson added that individuals with dementia and infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, whooping cough, and similar conditions will also be prohibited from performing Hajj.
Children under 12 years of age and pregnant women will not be permitted to undertake the pilgrimage.
Additionally, pilgrims will be required to receive vaccinations for diseases including meningitis, coronavirus, seasonal influenza, and polio.
