Muzafarabad: Remains of tourists who went missing nine years ago from a mountain peak in the Neelum Valley of Azad Kashmir have been discovered.
According to media, the remains of the tourists, who disappeared in Muzafarabad nine years ago, were found by local mountaineers, who then informed the authorities.
The remains were recovered from the Sirwali Peak, located at the confluence of the Neelum Valley and Gilgit-Baltistan, and have been transferred to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Khel.
Reports indicate that the recovery operation continued for three days despite severe cold and rain.
The administration and police also monitored the mountaineers during the operation.
It is worth noting that on August 31, 2015, three tourists—Imran Janidi, Usman Khalid, and Khurram Shehzad—went missing while exploring the Sirwali Peak, the highest point in the Neelum Valley, standing at 20,755 feet above sea level.
A rescue operation was conducted in September to locate the missing tourists, but it faced challenges and was unsuccessful in finding the bodies of the tourists.
