Islamabad: Federal Minister for Industries Rana Tanveer Hussain has stated that the government has established committees to provide relief on electricity bills, but it will take some time for consumers to see the benefits.
In a media briefing, Minister Tanveer Hussain explained that the government has formed committees to address electricity bill relief, but it will take a little time before the public experiences any reductions.
He noted that 50 billion rupees have been cut from the development budget to provide relief to consumers using up to 200 units, and industries have been given a relief of 10 rupees per unit.
Tanveer Hussain also mentioned ongoing negotiations with IPPs (Independent Power Producers) and discussions about converting gas and other energy projects to coal.
He added that the Prime Minister discussed this with the Chinese President during his visit to China, noting that switching power plants to coal would reduce production costs.
Regarding the potential ban on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), he said that this topic was not discussed in today’s cabinet meeting.
Additionally, he remarked that the PTI founder has admitted to sending supporters to GHQ, but Imran Khan claimed he only suggested peaceful protests in front of GHQ, asserting that his actions were limited and he did nothing beyond that.
