The Punjab Safe City Authority has announced a new traffic violation system under which traffic tickets will now come with evidence.
According to the announcement, heavy fines will be imposed for traffic violations, and tickets will be issued with evidence of the offense.
The announcement states that Punjab has launched an advanced traffic policing system using artificial intelligence and modern electronic methods, similar to those in developed countries.
The system includes new cameras that check for smoke-emitting vehicles.
The statement further explains that, in line with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s vision, the Safe City cameras in Lahore are now issuing electronic tickets for vehicles emitting excessive smoke, as well as for traffic and environmental law violations.
The process of checking smoke from vehicles, motorcycles, and auto-rickshaws using advanced cameras is also ongoing.
Additionally, pictures and videos of smoke-emitting vehicles are being captured, and electronic tickets will include images of the offending vehicles.
Senior Punjab Minister Maryam Aurangzeb stated that under the supervision of the Punjab Chief Minister, the traffic policing culture is undergoing a transformation.
The use of modern technology is ensuring environmental protection and the enforcement of traffic laws.
Maryam Aurangzeb also mentioned that the modern electronic traffic policing system will be gradually implemented in every city in Punjab, aiming to make the province smog-free and a model of modern policing with the cooperation of its citizens.
