Lahore: Following the heavy rainfall this morning, the Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif issued special instructions, leading WASA Lahore to start water drainage operations across the city.
WASA Managing Director Ghufran Ahmed visited low-lying areas to assess the rainfall situation.
He inspected Main Boulevard Zahoor Elahi Road, Jail Road, and Qurtuba Chowk.
Director Gulberg Town Sohail Qadir Cheema provided a detailed briefing on the drainage operation.
Ghufran Ahmed instructed the use of all heavy machinery to clear the city as quickly as possible.
Ahmed stated that all disposal stations are being operated at full capacity to clear the roads, with generators being used in areas affected by power outages.
According to WASA Lahore, rainfall measurements include 114 mm on Jail Road, 144 mm at the airport, 141 mm at the Head Office Gulberg, 153 mm at Lakshmi Chowk, 118 mm at Upper Mall, 128 mm at Mughalpura, 126 mm at Tajpura, 165 mm at Nishter Town, and 123 mm at Chowk Nakhuda.
Additionally, 170 mm was recorded at Pani Wala Talab, 122 mm at Farukhabad, 135 mm at Gulshan Ravi, 126 mm at Iqbal Town, 123 mm at Samanabad, 101 mm at Johar Town, and 149 mm at Qurtuba Chowk. The highest rainfall of 170 mm was recorded at Pani Wala Talab.
Managing Director Ghufran Ahmed is continuously monitoring the drainage operations.
