Lahore: The Lahore High Court has scheduled a hearing for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) petition challenging the imposition of Section 144 in Punjab.
Justice Shahnawaz Ranjha of the Lahore High Court will hear the petition filed by Zubair Kisana, the Deputy Secretary General of PTI Punjab.
The petition questions the legality of enforcing Section 144.
The petitioner argues that the imposition of Section 144 was intentionally aimed at restricting political activities.
PTI had announced a protest on July 26, after which the Punjab government imposed Section 144.
The petitioner claims that every political party has the fundamental right to protest and requests the court to declare the Punjab government’s notification of Section 144 null and void.
