Islamabad: Following Shibli Faraz, the leader of the opposition in the Senate, Omar Ayub, the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has also expressed concerns regarding the appointment of ad hoc judges in the Supreme Court by writing a letter to the Chairman and members of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan.
In his letter to the Judicial Council, Omar Ayub expressed reservations about the proposal for the appointment of ad hoc judges, rejecting the proposed appointments.
The leader of the opposition in the National Assembly stated that the appointment of ad hoc judges should not give the impression that it is an attempt to balance the Supreme Court’s opinion against one party.
He mentioned that the proposal to appoint ad hoc judges is based on the pending cases, and even the permanent judge positions in the Supreme Court have not been filled.
He added that considering the timing of the proposal for the appointment of ad hoc judges, it seems to have surfaced immediately after the recent decisions by 8 and 5 judges.
It is noteworthy that Shibli Faraz, the leader of the opposition in the Senate, had also written a letter to the members of the Judicial Council and the Chief Justice, expressing concerns over the appointment of ad hoc judges and rejecting this decision.
