Plymouth: A private island near the coast of Devon, England, complete with a beach, a castle, and a luxury hotel project, has been put on the market.
Named Drake Island, it is located just 600 yards from Plymouth and has been used for military defense for hundreds of years.
The island still features 18th-century cannons, which are included in the sale. It takes less than 10 minutes to reach the island by boat from the mainland.
The island also includes old barracks, artillery batteries, a shell shaft, and underground explosive rooms.
With a history spanning over 2,000 years, the first record of the building dates back to 1135.
The current owner, Morgan Phillips, notes that it was also a site for protection against nuclear attacks in the past, which might be why the Spanish Armada never reached it.
Mr. Phillips purchased the island in 2019 for £6 million and has also approved a plan for a 43-bedroom hotel.
