Rawalpindi: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation, stating that Defense Day is a significant reference point for Pakistan’s national identity.
He emphasized that the Pakistan Army and security agencies will continue their operations until the extremist threat is eliminated.
Speaking at the main Defense Day and Martyrs’ Day ceremony in Rawalpindi, he noted that Defense Day symbolizes Pakistan’s national identity and serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by those who gave their lives for the country’s freedom and security.
He stressed that no amount of tribute can ever be enough for these martyrs.
He highlighted that this day reminds us of the national spirit that led the great nation to thwart the enemy’s nefarious plans.
He recalled how the enemy, once boasting of its strength, fled in haste after failing to achieve its objectives.
The Prime Minister praised the courage of the mothers who sacrificed their sons for the country, affirming that their sacrifices will never be in vain.
He emphasized that Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed and Cecil Chaudhry represent the true colors of the Pakistani flag and that the protection, development, and prosperity of Pakistan are collective responsibilities.
He mentioned that Pakistan’s location, at the crossroads of many civilizations and conflicting interests, necessitates an invincible defense.
He stressed that without a strong defense, peace and prosperity are not possible.
Shehbaz Sharif affirmed that Pakistan is a peace-loving country with no aggressive intentions towards its neighbors, asserting that Pakistan’s borders are borders of peace.
He highlighted Pakistan’s role in promoting global peace through its nuclear capabilities, defense, and space technology.
The Prime Minister reiterated that while Pakistan desires peaceful and dignified relations with all its neighbors, it will not compromise on its freedom, honor, and interests.
He assured that Pakistan will continue to confront and defeat the nefarious designs of its enemies and will not rest until terrorism is completely eradicated.
He affirmed that operations by the Pakistan Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies will continue until the extremist threats and their facilitators are fully eliminated, with national consensus supporting this goal.
He expressed confidence in achieving this objective soon.
Finally, Shehbaz Sharif stated that the division among nations poses threats to national security, and no movement that weakens the state will be accepted by the people.
He asserted that Pakistan will continue to demand justice for the innocent victims of genocides in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine, and will keep raising its voice for humanity until the rights of Kashmiris and Palestinians are realized.
