Edinburgh: Technology experts have developed a plan to seal 100,000 methane-emitting natural wells over the next decade.
According to media reports, researchers at the University of Edinburgh have decided to close these wells to prevent the release of millions of tons of greenhouse gases.
A cleantech company called ‘Rocket,’ affiliated with Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, has unveiled this project.
The team predicts that this technique could trap toxic greenhouse gases underground for thousands of years.
Rocket’s project has been accepted into the Scottish Enterprise’s High Growth Spin-Out Program, which has approved £75,000 in funding to support the expansion of this initiative.
