Pharma Company Abbott warns Diabetics about faulty blood sugar monitoring devices

Chicago: Pharma company Abbott has warned diabetic patients that some of its blood sugar monitoring devices may provide incorrect test results, necessitating their replacement.

Abbott recently identified a specific number of FreeStyle Libre 3 sensors that might display incorrect high glucose readings, which, if undetected, could pose potential health issues for diabetic patients.

In a released alert, the company stated that false high blood sugar readings could prompt diabetic patients to take insulin unnecessarily.

According to the Mayo Clinic, this could trigger hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), a condition that can be life-threatening if not addressed promptly.
