Oregon: Patients have filed a lawsuit against a hospital in the U.S. after discovering that they might have contracted various diseases, including AIDS, due to potential negligence during their hospital stay.
Thousands of patients in an Oregon hospital received notices earlier this month, indicating that they might be at risk of various diseases due to the negligence of a former anesthesiologist at the hospital.
Following the receipt of these notices, patients have taken legal action against the Oregon Anesthesiology Association for negligence.
According to court documents, the plaintiffs are four patients from Clackamas County who received anesthesia during surgeries at Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center between March 2022 and February 2024.
The Oregon Health Authority began notifying approximately 2,400 patients on July 11.
The authority stated that the patients might be at risk of infections such as hepatitis B and C and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
The notices sent to thousands of patients revealed that their potential risk of various diseases was due to the negligence of the hospital’s former anesthesiologist.
