Paris Olympics: Australia tops medal table with 3 gold medals

Australia has topped the medal table on the first day of the Paris Olympics with 3 gold medals, while China has claimed 2 gold medals.

The race for medals at the Paris Olympics has begun, with China winning the first gold medal of the event in the 10-meter air rifle category.

China also secured another gold medal in synchronized 3-meter diving, with the USA taking silver and the UK bronze.

In men’s road cycling, Belgium won the gold medal, and Australia won the gold in the individual time trials.

Australia also won a second gold medal in the 400-meter freestyle event, with Ariarne Titmus clinching the gold in the women’s 400-meter freestyle, followed by Canada’s Summer McIntosh with silver and the USA’s Katie Ledecky with bronze.

Australia’s third gold medal came in the women’s 4×100 relay, where the Australian team set a new Olympic record with a timing of 3:28.92.

The USA won silver, and China took bronze in the same event.

With these achievements, Australia now leads the medal table with 3 gold medals.

Japan secured a gold medal in judo, with Natsumi defeating a Mongolian athlete in the finals.

Japan also won gold in the women’s 48 kg judo category, while Mongolia took silver. Kazakhstan’s Yeldos Smetov won gold in the 60 kg judo category.

Germany earned its first gold medal with Martin Lukas winning the men’s 400-meter freestyle swimming event, followed by Australia’s Elijah Winnington with silver and Korea’s Woong Kim with bronze.

Host nation France also won a gold medal in rugby sevens, defeating Fiji with a score of 28 to 7. South Africa won bronze by defeating Australia.

The USA claimed its first gold medal in the men’s 4×100 freestyle relay, with Australia narrowly taking silver by a margin of 1.07 seconds. Italy won bronze in the same event.

Hong Kong also celebrated its first gold medal in women’s fencing, with Vivian Kong defeating a French player in the final. Hungary won bronze by defeating an Estonian competitor.

South Korea secured the last gold medal of the first day, with Oh Sang-wook winning in men’s fencing sabre, defeating Tunisia’s Fares Ferjani in the final. Italy’s Luigi Samele won bronze.
