Pakistan sees 46.77% increase in food exports

During the past year, exports of food products from the country have increased by 46.77%.

According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, in the fiscal year 2023-24, food exports totaled $7.37 billion, compared to over $5 billion in 2022-23.

The statistics show that in June, there was a 41.51% annual increase in food exports, reaching $543.9 million. In June of the previous year, food exports were $359.2 million.

The data indicates that rice was the leading food export in the past year, with an 82.94% increase in exports. A total of 6.018 million metric tons of rice were exported, amounting to $3.93 billion in the fiscal year 2023-24.

According to the statistics, rice exports in June increased by 106.19%, with 425,000 metric tons exported and a value of $303.7 million. In June of the previous year, rice exports were valued at $147.3 million.

Over the past year, 935,000 tons of fruit were exported, showing a 21.31% increase in fruit exports for the fiscal year 2023-24. Additionally, 1.261 million metric tons of vegetables were exported, marking a 43.20% increase in vegetable exports.

The statistics also reveal that over 33,000 metric tons of sugar were exported, and Pakistan exported 248,000 tons of dried fruits, with a 117.18% increase in dried fruit exports in the fiscal year 2023-24.
