Islamabad: Prime Minister’s Advisor on Climate Change Romeena Khurshid Alam has stated that Pakistan is undergoing the worst climate change crisis, marked by rising and severe heat waves, devastating floods, and a shortage of freshwater resources all consequences of climate change.
A workshop organized by the Ministry of Climate Change and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) was held in Islamabad, with attendance by South Korean Ambassador Park Ki-jun and KOICA Country Director Ji Hye-yun.
Addressing the event, Romeena Khurshid Alam noted that the impacts of climate change are leading to a shortage of clean water in Pakistan.
She commended the efforts made with the Republic of Korea’s cooperation to improve the supply and quality of clean water in Pakistan.
She mentioned that the government will make full use of KOICA’s recommendations and emphasized that the collaboration with the Republic of Korea will continue.
At the event, KOICA experts revealed that a project worth 1.289 billion rupees is underway for testing clean water in Pakistan, which includes 7.2 million dollars in aid from the Republic of Korea.
