PAC Senate members nomination issue resolved: Government and opposition reach agreement

Islamabad: The issue of nominating Senate members to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has been resolved between the government and the opposition.

In the PAC, there will be three members from the opposition and three from the government.

The opposition will have two members from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and one from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Senators Shibli Faraz, Aon Abbas Buppi, and Mohsin Aziz will represent the opposition in the PAC, while Senators Saleem Mandviwala, Sherry Rehman, and Afnan Ullah will represent the government.

After the agreement between the government and opposition, Ishaq Dar will present six names for approval at the Senate session tomorrow.

Once approved, the process of activating the PAC will speed up.

It is important to note that the government is required to complete all standing committees, including the PAC, within 30 days.

However, even after five months, the establishment of the PAC has not been achieved.
