Seoul: South Korea has reported that North Korea executed 30 officials for failing to take precautionary measures before the floods.
According to media reports and South Korea’s intelligence agency, the executions were carried out on the orders of North Korea’s Supreme Leader, Kim Jong-un.
In July this year, devastating floods in North Korea destroyed thousands of homes and left more than 1,500 people dead or missing.
South Korea claims that North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un expressed severe anger over the disaster and indicated that strict actions would be taken against those responsible.
North Korea has not yet confirmed the news.
