Trento: Experts believe that the newly discovered caves on the Moon could be ideal locations for future astronauts to take shelter.
Professor Lorenzo Brovzon from the University of Trento in Italy stated that the existence of these caves has been recognized for over 50 years, but this is the first time they have demonstrated their presence.
This research, conducted by an international team of scientists, was published in the scientific journal ‘Nature Astronomy’ under the auspices of the University of Trento.
The caves discovered on the Moon are thought to be accessible from a large open pit approximately 492 feet below the lunar surface, measuring 147 feet wide, 262 feet long, and 328 feet deep.
Experts noted that this area is equivalent to the size of 14 tennis courts, with vertical walls, a sloped floor, and an extension of the cave that stretches some distance to the west.
