A new milestone was set in the men’s 100 meters event at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
In the semifinals, 12 athletes clocked times under 10 seconds. However, four athletes with times under 10 seconds failed to advance to the final.
For the first time in Olympic history, athletes with times below 10 seconds were excluded from the final.
South Africa’s Benjamin Richardson clocked 9.95 seconds, Japan’s Abdul Hakim Brown 9.96 seconds, Britain’s Louis Hunchcliff, and Canada’s Andre De Grasse 9.98 seconds, yet all missed out on the final.
