Nationwide anti-smuggling crackdown underway to revive economy

Islamabad: A nationwide anti-smuggling crackdown is underway to restore the economy.

The government is taking major steps to revitalize the national economy. Smuggling of essential items like flour, sugar, fertilizer, and oil has been causing severe conditions for the public.

To ensure public safety and a stable economy, the crackdown against smuggling has commenced.

During the crackdown from September 1 to 8, 126.4 metric tons of sugar, 4 metric tons of flour, 3,252 cigarette stocks, 58 cloth bales, and 0.959 million liters of Iranian oil were seized.

Relevant authorities confiscated 1,098 cigarette stocks from Karachi and 2,154 from Quetta.

Similarly, 120 metric tons of sugar were seized from Multan and 6.4 metric tons from Quetta, with 4 metric tons of flour also seized from Multan.

Iranian oil seized includes 0.002 million liters from Multan, 0.064 million liters from Karachi, and 0.893 million liters from Quetta. Additionally, 10 cloth bales were seized from Multan and 48 from Quetta.

Since September 1, 2023, a total of 13,088.75 metric tons of fertilizer, 3,470.106 metric tons of flour, 35,091.71 metric tons of sugar, 4,337,251 cigarette stocks, 151,292 cloth bales, and 16.636 million liters of Iranian oil have been seized across the country.

Authorities remain committed to continuing their actions against smuggling to help the country through these challenging times.
