NA-18 Haripur rigging case: Islamabad High Court stops Election Commission from investigating

The Islamabad High Court has issued a stay order on the Election Commission’s investigation into rigging in NA-18 Haripur.

Chief Justice Aamer Farooq of the Islamabad High Court issued notices to the parties involved, seeking their responses.

The court stopped the Election Commission from proceeding with the investigation following a petition by PML-N candidate Babar Nawaz.

PTI leader Umar Ayub challenged the Election Commission’s proceedings and the order dated July 10.

The petitioner argued that the Election Commission is required to decide on a petition within 60 days, and any action beyond this period is illegal.

Chief Justice Aamer Farooq issued a written order halting the Election Commission’s investigation into rigging in NA-18 Haripur.

Notices were issued to the Election Commission, the Returning Officer of NA-18, the District Returning Officer, and Babar Nawaz Khan, requesting their responses.
