Baghdad: Iraq’s meteorological department has announced that the bright and intense light observed in the sky on Friday was actually the result of a meteor that had fallen to Earth.
Details reveal that on Friday, citizens in Iraq witnessed a bright light in the sky, which quickly went viral on social media.
Several social media users in Syria also shared images and videos of a bright light in the sky.
On Saturday, the Iraqi meteorological department confirmed that the light seen in Iraq’s sky on Friday was caused by a meteor burning up in the atmosphere.
The statement clarified that the light was due to a meteor burning in the atmosphere and emphasized that this event did not cause any earthquakes.
The authority dismissed concerns arising from social media speculation, stating that there is no connection between earthquakes and meteor burns.
