Karachi: Former Pakistani spin star Mushtaq Ahmed will guide the Bangladeshi spinners in the upcoming Test series against Pakistan.
The Bengal Tigers will have his services as a spin consultant during their tour.
Taskin Ahmed has recovered from his issues before the tour, and Ebadat Hossain’s fitness is also improving.
The Bangladeshi cricket team is set to tour Pakistan this month for a 2-Test match series, where they will benefit from Mushtaq Ahmed’s expertise as a spin consultant.
Previously, he has worked with the Bangladeshi spinners during the T20 World Cup held in the USA and the West Indies.
BCB Cricket Operations Chairman Jalal Yunus stated that Mushtaq Ahmed will be available for the Pakistan series.
However, due to other commitments, he will not be fully available until December.
The board hopes to secure his services for a longer period starting January.
Bangladeshi spinners, especially Rishad Ahmed, have shown significant improvement, which is why the BCB aims to retain Mushtaq’s services for an extended period.
Head coach Chandika Hathurusingha will return from Australia before the series.
Providing an update on player fitness, Jalal Yunus mentioned that Taskin Ahmed has started bowling with the red ball and underwent a fitness assessment recently.
The selectors will decide on his inclusion for the Pakistan tour.
It is noteworthy that Taskin has not played Test cricket since June last year, although he recently participated in the World Cup.
Regarding Ebadat Hossain, Jalal Yunus said that he has recovered 70% from his injury but still requires further rehabilitation.
