Karachi: Due to concerns about monkeypox, screening of passengers arriving on international flights is ongoing at airports across the country.
Airport sources indicate that in the past two days, approximately 140 international flights have arrived in Pakistan.
A total of 19,412 passengers from these flights have been screened. At Karachi’s Jinnah Airport, 4,214 passengers from 35 flights were screened, including 52 deportees.
At Islamabad Airport, 5,485 passengers from 40 international flights were screened.
One passenger exhibiting symptoms of monkeypox was isolated, but after a negative test result, the passenger was allowed to return home.
At Lahore’s Allama Iqbal Airport, 6,000 passengers from 32 flights were screened. In Multan, 1,571 passengers from 12 flights were screened.
Peshawar Airport screened 682 passengers from 6 flights, and Faisalabad Airport screened 289 passengers from 3 flights.
At Sialkot Airport, 962 passengers from 10 flights were screened, and in Quetta, 207 passengers arriving from abroad were screened for monkeypox. Screening is being conducted using thermal scanners at the airports.
