Islamabad: The sub-committee of the Inter-Provincial Bar Councils met with Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Qazi Faez Isa to express concern over pending cases, requesting the formulation of a strategy for their immediate resolution.
They also expressed their commitment to work together for the strengthening of the judiciary and the rule of law.
According to a statement issued by the Islamabad Bar Council, the sub-committee of the Inter-Provincial Bar Councils met with Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
The lawyers’ committee included Islamabad Bar Vice Chairman Adil Aziz Qazi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa member Farooq Khattak, Balochistan Bar Council Vice Chairman Qasim Ali Gijzai, Sindh Bar Council member Abdul Razzaq, and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Punjab Bar Council Pir Imran Akram Bodla.
The statement said the committee expressed concern over the pending approval of Judicial Commission laws and highlighted delays due to the lack of a meeting schedule.
During the meeting with the Chief Justice, bar leaders particularly expressed concern over the backlog in the criminal justice system and requested Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa to formulate a strategy for the prompt resolution of these cases.
The bar leaders thanked Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Qazi Faez Isa for the appointment of ad-hoc judges for criminal cases and suggested activating Supreme Court registries across the country to improve accessibility and performance.
The statement mentioned that for accountability and transparency in the judiciary, it was proposed to review the decisions of High Court and Supreme Court judges based on their resolved cases.
On this occasion, it was emphasized that all bar councils are committed to working with the judiciary for the strengthening of the justice system and the rule of law.
