Man attempts self-immolation outside Governor House over street crime

In Karachi, where street crime has reached alarming levels, a man attempted self-immolation outside the Governor House after being frustrated by repeated crimes. He was saved by staff who intervened promptly.

According to reports, the man arrived at the Governor House with a petrol-filled bottle and poured it over himself. A bystander quickly seized the matchbox from him.

The man expressed his frustration, stating, “Let me die; there is no peace in this city. I came to submit a petition at the Governor House but was not allowed inside.”

He further explained that he and his friends had been robbed at gunpoint by unknown assailants in the Mochko area, who took their cash and mobile phones.

He went to the police station, but officers did not listen to him and merely gave him the runaround, which led him to attempt self-immolation at the Governor House.

SP Saddar Majida Baloch assured Express News that the Mochko police would cooperate fully with the victim and work to recover the stolen mobile phone.
