In Karachi, a local court has issued notices to the CEO of K-Electric and others in response to a request for filing a case against the company over deaths caused by extreme heat.
The Additional District and Sessions Judge South heard the petition requesting that a murder case be registered against K-Electric due to the severe load shedding and heatwave that resulted in numerous fatalities in the city.
Petitioner’s lawyer, Abid Hussain Advocate, argued that K-Electric’s load shedding for recovery purposes during extreme heat and heatwave led to the deaths of several people in Karachi.
The petitioner claimed that K-Electric is responsible for these deaths and requested that a murder case be filed against the CEO and others.
The Additional District and Sessions Judge South issued notices to the SSP South and the CEO of K-Electric and others, seeking their response by July 30.
