The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has issued strict directives to K-Electric regarding load shedding during the intense heat in Karachi.
According to NEPRA’s announcement, K-Electric has been instructed not to carry out load shedding during the night.
NEPRA stated that load shedding should not exceed one hour, even in cases of extreme necessity.
NEPRA has also ordered K-Electric to submit a report within 7 days based on these directives, warning that legal action will be taken against the company if the instructions are not followed.
Recently, Karachi has been experiencing severe heat, with load shedding lasting over 14 hours in various areas.
The extreme heat and heatstroke have led to numerous fatalities.
The Provincial Interior Minister had previously announced that if sudden deaths in Karachi are found to be due to load shedding, K-Electric would face murder charges.
