Lahore High Court has declared the appointment of Lieutenant General Muneer Afzal as NADRA Chairman invalid and ordered his removal.
Justice Asim Hafeez delivered the verdict on the petition. The court accepted the challenge against the appointment of the NADRA Chairman.
Citizen Ashba Kamran had challenged the appointment of Lieutenant General Muneer Afzal as Chairman NADRA.
The petition argued that the interim government approved the appointment of a serving military officer by amending NADRA’s laws, and that the interim government cannot interfere in permanent policy matters.
The petitioner requested the court to annul the NADRA amendment rules and declare the appointment of the serving military officer as NADRA Chairman invalid.
