Lahore: Amina Arooj, the accused in the Honey Trap case involving renowned Pakistani playwright Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar, has alleged that she was subjected to electric shocks during interrogation.
According to details, a hearing was held at the Lahore High Court regarding Amina Arooj’s medical request. Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh heard the application filed by Amina Arooj’s mother, Zainat Bibi.
The application named the IG Prisons and the Superintendent of Kot Lakhpat Jail as respondents, requesting the court to address allegations of severe physical and mental torture inflicted on Amina Arooj during her physical remand.
It was urged that Amina Arooj has sustained serious internal and external injuries due to the alleged torture and that she should be presented in court and given a medical examination.
During the hearing, Amina Arooj’s preliminary medical report was submitted, indicating signs of torture on both her legs and three injuries.
The prosecutor noted that two to three injuries are being examined.
The medical report recommended that Amina Arooj undergo X-rays and other tests for a complete medical evaluation.
Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh inquired about the time required for this, to which AMS Dr. Faraz responded that it would take three to four days to complete the medical report.
The court instructed that the medical evaluation be completed and adjourned the hearing until August 27.
It is noted that Amina Arooj had claimed she was subjected to electric shocks during interrogation, but doctors did not support this claim.
