Justice Mazhar Alam declines Supreme Court Ad-Hoc role

Justice (Retired) Mushir Alam and Justice (Retired) Maqbool Baqar had previously turned down the offer to serve as ad-hoc judges in the Supreme Court. Now, Justice (Retired) Mazhar Alam Mian Khel has also declined the position.

The federal government had suggested the names of four former judges for these ad-hoc roles in the Supreme Court. The nominees included Justice Mushir Alam, Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, Justice Mazhar Alam Mian Khel, and Justice (Retired) Maqbool Baqar.

Today, a meeting of the Judicial Commission is being held to deliberate on these proposed names for the ad-hoc judgeship.

Initially, Justice Mushir Alam and Justice (Retired) Maqbool Baqar had already refused the ad-hoc judge position, while Justice Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice Mazhar Alam Mian Khel had agreed to take on the roles.

However, recent reports indicate that Justice Mazhar Alam Mian Khel has now also declined the position of ad-hoc judge in the Supreme Court.

Sources confirm that Justice (Retired) Mazhar Alam Mian Khel has officially informed the Judicial Commission of his decision.
