Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami workers staged a protest outside the Governor House, defying Section 144.
Led by Jamaat-e-Islami’s Karachi Amir, Muneem Zafar Khan, the party’s workers reached the Governor House, and attempts by police and administration to stop them were unsuccessful.
The main road outside the Governor House’s VIP gate was closed off for traffic, and a stage was set up in the area.
It is noteworthy that Section 144 had been imposed in the red zone by the Sindh government the previous day.
Jamaat-e-Islami has also been holding a protest on Murree Road, Rawalpindi for the past nine days against high electricity prices and other demands, with the Karachi protest being a continuation of this movement.
