Jamaat-e-Islami agrees to negotiations with Government, Committee’s formed Under Liaqat Baloch’s Leadership

Rawalpindi: During the abongoing sit-in in Rawalpindi, Jamaat-e-Islami accepted the government’s offer for negotiations and formed a four-member committee led by Deputy Ameer Liaqat Baloch.

During the Jamaat-e-Islatmi sit-in at Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi, held for public relief, the federal government delegation, including Minister of Information Ataullah Tarar and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, met with Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman.

According to the Jamaat-e-Islami spokesperson, the government delegation requested the Jamaat-e-Islami leadership to immediately end the sit-in, which Jamaat-e-Islami rejected. However, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman agreed to the government’s offer for negotiations.

The spokesperson stated that government representative Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry reached the sit-in, met Hafiz Naeem and Liaqat Baloch, and said he was there to extend an invitation for negotiations to be held the next day.

He mentioned that the Jamaat-e-Islami delegation for the negotiations would include Deputy Ameer Liaqat Baloch, Secretary General Amirul Azeem, Syed Farasat Shah, and Nasrullah Randhawa.

The Jamaat-e-Islami spokesperson said that the government delegation also included Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting Ataullah Tarar.

He added that the four-member committee would negotiate with the government today (July 28), with the time and place to be announced later.

He noted that the meeting between the Federal Minister of Information, the government negotiation team, and Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, including Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, took place in a pleasant environment.

The Federal Minister of Information remarked that Jamaat-e-Islami is a peaceful party and expressed hope that the negotiations would be fruitful.

The Jamaat-e-Islami spokesperson also stated that Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman would hold a press conference at 11:30 AM tomorrow to announce the next course of action. However, he rejected all possibilities of ending the sit-in without the approval of their demands.
