Israel: Over 750,000 protest against Netanyahu in streets

Tel Aviv: Despite 11 months having passed since the Gaza war, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government has still not managed to secure the release of hostages held by Hamas, leading to widespread protests today.

According to international news agencies, major highways across Israel are filled with demonstrators.

Protesters are carrying banners calling for the release of hostages and chanting against the Netanyahu government.

The protesters demand that Netanyahu prioritize negotiating a ceasefire with Hamas over saving his own political position, in order to secure the immediate release of Israeli hostages.

They expressed that the lives of hostages, who have been held for 11 months, are at risk while the government focuses on maintaining its power.

Most of the hostages who have returned so far did so under negotiated agreements.

Protesters also called on the United States to remove Netanyahu from the negotiations and engage directly with Hamas to finalize a ceasefire agreement as soon as possible.

Recently, six Israeli hostages’ bodies, including an American citizen, were found in a Gaza tunnel. Hamas claimed that these individuals were killed in Israeli airstrikes.

This followed a nationwide strike last week, called by the families of the hostages and various groups, in response to the ongoing crisis.
